LETTER FROM 2009-2010 PRESIDENT, NANCY ALLISON
Dear ISES Austin Members and Potential Members,
Thank you for the privilege of serving as your new president. I’m truly excited about the year ahead of us. We have wonderful momentum going for us from the talented, dedicated past presidents that came before me and we’ll keep it going until we pass it on to the next gifted individual who steps into my position at years end. I’m more convinced than ever that ISES Austin is a special group; a gathering of amazingly talented individuals, dedicated and ambitious individuals who continuously contribute to the well being of our community and constantly reaching out to the new businesses that have joined and continue to join our ISES family. Yes, you are such an amazing group, I feel so blessed to be a part of this incredible circle of business professionals.
I can’t begin to express how lucky you are to have ISES Austin. I hate to show my age, but when I started out in business there was no ISES, there was no NACE, no MPI, and there were no educational opportunities. When my phone rang with a request from a client, I simply had to make it up as I stumbled along. There was no association to turn to when I didn’t know how something should be done. How times have changed! Look at the incredible opportunities you have at your fingertips! Like local Chapter Education and networking meetings, regional education seminars, The Special Event Conference and Eventworld!! Amazing and so wonderful, with so much to offer each of you. Take full advantage every time you can and you’ll see how life changing these opportunities can be.
My plan for the first weeks as your president hinges around listening and learning first, action second. I want to hear from each of you. This is your chapter and it should reflect the wishes of its membership. We are the future of ISES Austin and I see a very bright future indeed. Help me “Turn up the Heat†and make ISES Austin the best it can be.
In closing, I’m asking each of you to give a little more effort. I’m asking each of you to realize how fortunate you are in this day and age. I’m asking you to help me rise on my learning curve as your new president and most importantly I’m asking you to assist in composing ISES Austin’s future- a future that reflects you. Thank you.
